The Alaska Teen Media Institute is a Spirit of Youth program that provides journalism training for youth and creates a distribution point for teen-related news in Alaska. ATMI functions as a teen newsroom where youth work as reporters, editors and producers under the guidance of experienced journalists.

ATMI stories are aired on radio and are available on the ATMI website. Monthly installments of “In Other News” air live on partner station KNBA in Anchorage. ATMI also provides media skills training for other teen groups.

ATMI has won a number of awards for their news stories. In 2008 “In Other News” was recognized as the Top Ongoing Current Affairs Program by the Alaska Press Club.

Listen to ATMI on KNBA 90.3 FM at 4 p.m. on the last Saturday of every month. You can also listen in at KNBA.org or check out their archives.
