The Youth Friendly Business recognition program honors (for-profit) businesses that:
All companies that earn this designation are awarded a certificate and are entitled to display the Youth Friendly decal in their window. In addition, they will be recognized in local press, on organizational websites, and at the annual Spirit of Youth awards banquet in March. Should a business care about teenage customers?
Application and Review ProcessApplications or nominations are made by anyone and accepted throughout the year. All nominations must have at least one youth reference. The Spirit of Youth Teen Action Council, that developed the criteria, reviews all applications. You may fill out a nomination form in one of three ways:
Endorsements:The Youth Friendly Business (YFB) recognition program is a partnership between Spirit of Youth and the Association of Alaska School Boards (Alaska ICE) and the Alaska Division of Behavioral Health. It has been endorsed and supported by the Anchorage Youth Development Coalition, Assets for Interior Alaskan Youth (Fairbanks), Patchworks (Ketchikan), Juneau Coalition for Youth and United Way of Anchorage -- as a model of how a community can demonstrate support for youth.
