Spirit of Youth is directed by the Teen Action Council (SOYTAC). This lively group of high school students provides leadership in all phases of the organization. Teen Council activities include:

• Designing promotional materials
• Making presentations
• Soliciting nominations
• Reviewing all Spirit of Youth nominations for media recognition
• Selecting the annual SOY award winners
• Reviewing all Youth Friendly Businesses nominations
• Participating in civic engagement activities (e.g. youth vote, Governor & US Senate debates)
• Planning and coordinating the annual SOY banquet in March

SOYTAC meetings are held monthly throughout the year. The time commitment increases three months before the annual banquet .

SOYTAC members are also eligible to serve on Spirit of Youth's Board of Directors. If you are a high school student interested in joining the Teen Action Council contact our office at 566-7676 or Becky Judd by phone at 269-3425 or by email at becky_judd@health.state.ak.us.
